The Weird & Wonderful has undergone a lot of changes in the 10 years that we've been in business.
To the people that have stuck around for the journey with us thank you!
What started out as my small ebay shop selling a range of vintage wares when i finished university quickly grew into one of the largest natural history online stores in the UK.
From the very beginning The Weird & Wonderful has always been an online store with a fantastic following and amazing customers and the online store has always been the core of the business.
But my goal has always been to develop the brand into interiors products, producing our own designs inspired by the things that I've collected and sold in the past.
To start this off 18 months ago we began developing our range of framed artwork, all made in house, and this led to a handful of physical stores wanting to stock them.
For the last 12 months we have been working very hard behind the scenes, meeting new stores to supply with our products, exhibiting at trade shows and developing our products to suit the shops we are supplying. We now supply over 30 shops in the UK with our framed artwork and new shops are stocking us every month.
Although we receive help and support from fantastic friends and family we are still a small team and do everything in house. To ensure we provide the very best products we need to put all of our focus into one area of the business.
After much deliberation we have decided that as of Friday the 28th Februrary the online store will close to retail customers and we will be selling exclusively to trade customers.
This doesnt mean we are going away! In fact in means that there will be even more stores where you will be able to find our products, both online and in physical shops.
It means we will have more time to develop a wider range of products and grow the brand and provide a huge new variety of products to the stores that have put their support behind us in these last 12 months.
Over the next 2 weeks we will be having a massive clearance sale on entomology, ex display framed prints and other assorted natural history items as we make our transition into trade only.
