An Antique original print from the early 1700's
Engraving of Charles I as king. Whole length with long hair, beard, lace collar, armour, and George on a chain around neck. Standing holding a baton in right hand, with left arm resting beside a plumed helmet and crown.
With English inscription below. Second state, with inscriptions.
Part of a group of ten whole length portraits engraved after van Dyck of portraits in the collection of the 1st Duke of Wharton from 1713 to 1715.
Engraved by Pieter Stevens van Gunst (1659-1724)
The print arrived to us in a deteriorating condition and has been stabalised onto acid free mount board and the detached pieces sympathically reconstructed to show the losses as a part of this prints history rather than hidden under the mount.
